Core Activities

The Center directs its work activities to the development and delivery of services and products that enhance the availability, quality or affordability of the following community-focused resources.

Education and Professional Development

The Center provides, encourage and facilitates opportunities for education, professional enrichment, mentoring, personal renewal, and the sharing of knowledge and information about ethical and effective nonprofit and grassroots leadership and management. Initiatives are designed to help organizations learn about and adapt effective practices.

Community Oriented Practical Research and Development

The Center conducts, supports and encourages the development of knowledge and understanding of programs, strategies, and approaches that can be used by the community of nonprofit and grassroots organizations. Opportunities are provided for nonprofit and grassroots leaders to adapt, synthesize, and apply research and knowledge from a range of sectors and best practices.

Community Collaboration Building, Vision Setting and Problem Solving

The Center supports, encourages, and facilitates collaboration among community organizations and leaders of the public service community to address complex community issues and visions. Working with other effective organizations and Resource Associates, the Center helps facilitate and mobilize community action by preparing and linking organizations and leaders to respond to visions for improvement that cross programmatic, organizational, political and other boundaries.

Knowledge and Information Dissemination

The Center develops and support the development of information useful to grassroots and nonprofit leaders and those that work with them. In cooperation with Resource Associates, we will organize information in accessible ways and encourage and facilitate dialog using a variety of communication media.
