Center History
Center Mission
The South Carolina Center for Grassroots and
Nonprofit Leadership (Center) initiates and coordinates activities
for the SC Collaborative on Grassroots and Nonprofit Leadership,
a premier alliance of SC foundations,
faith-based and civic groups, professional organizations, educational
institutions and governmental agencies. The Center resides within
the Institute
on Family and Neighborhood Life and is located at Clemson
University. Five mission-driven initiatives were identified
by the Collaborative and define the strategic direction for the
next five years. The Center's work will concentrate on developing
and implementing successful business, programmatic and learning
strategies that result in the following outcomes for the grassroots
and nonprofit service sectors within South Carolina:
- Enhanced
community-level leadership
and organizational capacities
- Strengthened
accountability, effectiveness
and ethical standards of practice
- Service
integration, collaboration,
and on site
problem-solving resources
- Strengthened
boards and governance systems
- Organizational
capacity to compete and survive
in a dynamic environment through
effective development and financial
planning
